Select friend play, create an invite URL and send it by text, email, Discord or any messaging service you already use. Your friend opens the link and joins the same game room without installing a separate app.
Different devices are fine: one player can use a desktop browser while the other uses a phone. The live room keeps both boards, the score and the current turn synchronized.
Use friend games for casual play or focused practice
Friend mode is separate from rated matchmaking, so it works well when you simply want a private game without thinking about rating. It is also useful for practice with a regular partner because both players share the same position and move history.
The standard rules stay simple: Black moves first, legal moves flip bracketed discs, forced passes happen automatically and the game ends when neither side can move.
Replay the same position after the conversation ends
A completed friend game can be replayed move by move. Instead of saying “I think this was the turning point,” return to the actual board, compare the played move with a recommended alternative and discuss the position together.
If you keep the same passkey account, completed friend games also become part of your longer learning history, alongside AI and rated games.
